E.J. Westling is an author and storyteller whose fiction explores the experiences, choices, relationships, and challenges that shape people's lives.
Through character-driven stories, Westling explores themes of education, identity, family, relationships, ambition, responsibility, and the uncertainty that often accompanies major transitions in life.
The stories are designed to encourage readers to look beyond the surface of a character's circumstances and consider the choices that shape their paths.
Westling's work is particularly interested in the moments when life doesn't go according to plan—when a decision, relationship, unexpected circumstance, or new realization forces a character to reconsider what comes next.
At the center of each story is a question:
What would you do?
I believe some of the most meaningful stories don't simply give readers answers.
They give readers questions worth thinking about.
My approach to fiction is centered on creating characters who feel human— characters with dreams, responsibilities, flaws, fears, relationships, and decisions to make. I am interested in the moments when those different parts of a person's life collide.
What happens when what you want conflicts with what you need?
What happens when one decision changes the future you imagined?
What happens when growing up means confronting circumstances you never expected?
Through fiction, I want to create stories that entertain readers while also giving them something to think about after they've finished reading.
The goal isn't to tell readers what to think.
It's to give them something worth thinking about.
